Tij Observatory

Tij Observatory

‘Tij Observatory’ designed by Rau Architects and Road Architecten.

The thatched reed covered egg-shaped observatory is brilliantly designed to take the form of a tern’s egg, as birdwatchers come to observe them by the coast of Natuurgebied Scheelhoek. The interior is built with timber frames and sustainable wood. The architectural structure is not only practical for bird watching, but it also reflects a beautiful and organic design that takes place in nature.

A Valuable Lesson For A Happier Life

A Valuable Lesson For A Happier Life

Though we may feel like life is a never-ending to-do list, this video shows an eye opening perspective of an essential lesson that says “we will never have room for the things that are important to us if we spend all of our time and energy on the minor stuff”.

A thought provoking lesson that makes you pay attention to the things that are critical to our happiness, in spite of the chaos the world may throw at us.

Minimalistic Mcdonald's

Minimalistic Mcdonald’s

McDonald’s, back at it again with its minimalistic route in new print ads.

The latest campaign features the fast food brand’s iconic products including the Big Mac, fries, gherkin and strawberry milkshake – presented in an iconographic style. Since the redesign of McDonald packaging, which was introduced last year, this simple and bold illustrative approach is what we’ve now come to expect from the brand.

Artist Rebecca Szeto gives these old paintbrushes an ultimate makeover.

She cleverly carves the ends of the used brushes and paints the face of a renaissance man, woman, or child. The leftover dry paint on the used brush hairs acts as the colourful gowns and outfits. “These works play with notions of re-forming beauty and value. I use humble, end-of-life, mass-produced materials inspired by my experience as a faux finisher.” Szeto.

And now, they’re in our world too! The series ‘Upside Down’ took over 15 iconic landmarks over 14 countries, including but not limited to, the Empire State Building in NYC; Bondi Beach in Australia; Duomo Square in Milan; the Gateway of India in Mumbai, and many more.
