Heinz and Absolut's collaboration

Heinz and Absolut’s collaboration campaign is absolutely brilliant!

A year since launching Heinz’s ‘Ridiculously late. Ridiculously good.’ campaign for their first ever Pasta Sauce, they have recently announced one of the most unexpected partnerships of the year with Absolut Vodka.

The campaign for this limited-edition launch of the UK’s first tomato vodka pasta sauce was devised by Wunderman Thompson Spain. Taking inspiration from the iconic Absolut Vodka adverts from the 1980s, the new campaign pays homage to the iconic Absolut bottle shape with a twist of Heinz elements. Each series of poster features clever taglines like ‘Absolutely Heinz. Ridiculously Good’ and ‘Absolutely Foodie. Ridiculously Good’.

What are you thoughts on this unexpected collaboration?

Adidas’s new nature inspired World Cup away Jersey

Inspired by nature, Adidas’s new World Cup away jersey is ready for the big stage.

Made for the best players around the world; Japan, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Colombia and Argentina, each kit reflects the wonders of its natural environment.

Japan’s away kit takes its pink colour tones from the sunrise at Mount Fuji, representing the Japanese team emerging from the horizon at the Woman’s World Cup. German’s woodland green colours are inspired by the great Black Forest that covers a third of the country’s land mass. Spain’s jersey features the beautiful coral reefs found around the coastlines; Sweden’s kit represents the vast glacial rivers and ice caps; Colombia’s kit pays homage to the hues of the Caño Cristales River and Argentina’s jersey displays the striking landscapes from Serranía de Hornocal, signifying the diverse natural landscapes of the country.

One wonders what modular MIPtv will offer and who will buck their earlier trend of saying they might not attend.

Recreating scenes from 'The Last of Us'

Photographer visits famous locations from ‘The Last of Us’ to recreate iconic scenes

Mark Cogan, an Irish-Canadian photographer, travels to Pedro Pascal’s favourite Alberta town to recreate some of the iconic scenes from The Last of Us.

Cogan creates these series of creative still by holding up a picture from the show to match them where they were actually filmed.

This beautiful Canadian mountain town got an apocalyptic makeover for the show and was staged to be Jackson, Wyoming, which was prominently featured in the sixth episode, “Kin”.

London TV Screenings 2023

Let’s hope other MIP and other markets follow the London Screening upwards trend

Last week saw the London Screenings hit the hotels and cinemas in Soho. The London Screenings has become a firmament of the International TV marketplace, running with a roster of 26 International TV companies. The event’s founding distributors are All3Media International, Banijay Rights, Entertainment One (eOne), Fremantle and ITV Studios and they all had a large presence on the calendar of events. ITV Studios stood out for us, as they chose to theme up the Odeon Luxe for the benefit of buyers and sellers alike, creating an immersive atmosphere in the space and the branding and styling was absolutely on point.

I think 2024 will see more of the major founders and other distributors create a fully styled marketplace to suit their captive audience….and we hope others will follow suit in 2024. Having the right environment makes the whole process more seamless.

It’s a shame that the site that promotes the London Screenings isn’t a bit more informative, or owned in some form. There was a lot of talk of people on the fringes of the event that needed and wanted more intel on getting in.
We are pretty sure with the footfall of 2023 and relatively full auditoria, that these things will come.

One wonders what modular MIPtv will offer and who will buck their earlier trend of saying they might not attend.

Nokia’s New Identity

Nokia’s New Identity

It’s ‘NO’ KIA, but it is equally risky.

Last year KIA changed its identity using a similar strokeless letter technique, which, when the annual sponsorship for the Australian Open Tennis came out, caused some concern about legibility.

Nokia has opted to alter its logo in an attempt to dissociate itself from its reputation as a mobile device producer. The well-known blue block-letter Nokia emblem was introduced in the late 1960s and has not been significantly revised since then. Despite the fact that it was a challenging choice due to the length of time that the previous logo had been in use, it was deemed necessary.

What is your opinion on Nokia’s choice? Additionally, do you have a favourable impression of the updated design?

Pedro Pascal’s 9/10

It’s Pedro Pascal’s world, baby… we’re just living in it.

Pedro Pascal, the lead of two of TV’s highest rated shows, The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, is one of the most acclaimed actors in the industry. With a string of high-rated series under his belt, Pedro has never played a main character in a TV show that has received less than an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. His latest role as Joel on The Last of Us is no exception to this impressive streak.

The ratings are as follows:
The Last of Us – 99%
The Mandalorian: 93%
Narcos: 89%
Game of Thrones: 89%

The ICE St. Mortiz

The ICE St. Mortiz

The first official ICE was in 2022, and it was definitely worth the wait.
Prominent collectors assembled more than 50 of the best automobiles, which competed in five concours classes and oversteered spectacularly around the lake, creating rooster tails of snow.

The ICE St.Moritz is a very different event, a refreshing concours. A completely magical environment where drivers, collectors, and just plain car enthusiasts enjoy a late winter day in the sunshine, surrounded by the landscape and atmosphere that only St.Moritz, at the top of the world, is able to offer.

Switzerland’s International Concours of Elegance (ICE) returned to the frozen surface of St Moritz Lake on February 24–25, 2023.
ICE combines the thrill of motor sport, après-ski festivities and concours d’elegance to create one of the year’s most alluring and special events on the automotive calendar. The next instalment promises to be especially memorable as ICE commemorates the 100th anniversary of Le Mans.

Things I have drawn

Things I have drawn

What started as a silly little project between dad, Tom, and his 6-year-old son, Dom, soon had Dom’s younger brother, Al, joining in the fun, and more recently has turned into something much much bigger, with parents sending their kid’s drawings in from all over the world.

And probably because they have a shedload of Instagram fans at Thingsihavedrawn, they sometimes get involved with Brand Partnerships including one for GUCCI.
