Mark Cavendish

Mark Cavendish to retire from cycling after this season

This week Mark Cavendish announced his retirement from the sport at the end of this season.

Mark Cavendish’s career is defined by his remarkable sprinting prowess, which earned him numerous victories in prestigious races. HIs 34 stage wins in the Tour de France, make him the most successful cyclist in its history equal with Eddy Merckx.

Cavendish’s crowning achievement came in 2011 when he won the UCI Road World Championships, securing the coveted rainbow jersey. His victory showcased his exceptional sprinting abilities and cemented his place among cycling’s elite.

One of the most unforgettable moments in his career occurred during the 2023 Giro d’Italia final sprint of stage 17, where a crash unfolded just meters before the finish line. Despite the mayhem, Cavendish navigated his way through the carnage and lunged forward to cross the finish line in a spectacular photo finish, still holding the handlebar of his bike.

The image captured the intensity of the moment.

French Open 2023

Game, Set, Match: French Open 2023 soon to Set the Court on Fire!

The French Open begins on Monday and with the King of Clay out injured, the field is pretty open, the most open it has been in 15 years.

There are a number of people looking to wear the Roland Garros crown in 2023. Caspar Ruud, last years’ beaten finalist must think he is in with a great chance. It was almost like he was awestruck last year, but he’ll fancy his chances more against the remainder of the field.

Holger Rune however has just beaten him in Rome. He has a really impressive head-to-head with the top players, although the best of 5 sets is always a different animal to any of the ATP finalists outside of the Majors.

Which is why you wouldn’t bet against Novak Djokovic adding to his majors titles. Even 2 sets to love down, most betting predictors still have him favourite in a best of 5 major final. There is a huge difference between a best of 3 sets and best of 5.

Although, Rune seemed to dispatch Djokovic very well in Rome, he in turn was then himself dispatched by Danil Medvedev, a man who insists he is no favourite on clay…and yet beat Rune the man in form on that surface.

If you want someone to watch as an outsider, I would pick Hungarian Fabian Marouzsan, who played an incredible match to beat Carlos Alcaraz in Rome.

It looks like it will be a fascinating French Open.

BAFTA

BAFTA AWARDS

Client: BAFTA
Type: Product Production

After 47 years of production BAFTA needed a permanent master mask.

From a sample mask we created a 3D scan and then manipulated the 3D file in order to create a 3D master.

From the master 3D file, we used fine art crafting to create a wax maquette. We then cast the mask in moulds and meticulously created a sample, which was then buffed and polished to give it the shine and prestige look of BAFTA.

Heinz and Absolut's collaboration

Heinz and Absolut’s collaboration campaign is absolutely brilliant!

A year since launching Heinz’s ‘Ridiculously late. Ridiculously good.’ campaign for their first ever Pasta Sauce, they have recently announced one of the most unexpected partnerships of the year with Absolut Vodka.

The campaign for this limited-edition launch of the UK’s first tomato vodka pasta sauce was devised by Wunderman Thompson Spain. Taking inspiration from the iconic Absolut Vodka adverts from the 1980s, the new campaign pays homage to the iconic Absolut bottle shape with a twist of Heinz elements. Each series of poster features clever taglines like ‘Absolutely Heinz. Ridiculously Good’ and ‘Absolutely Foodie. Ridiculously Good’.

What are you thoughts on this unexpected collaboration?

Inspired by nature, Adidas’s new World Cup away jersey is ready for the big stage.

Made for the best players around the world; Japan, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Colombia and Argentina, each kit reflects the wonders of its natural environment.

Japan’s away kit takes its pink colour tones from the sunrise at Mount Fuji, representing the Japanese team emerging from the horizon at the Woman’s World Cup. German’s woodland green colours are inspired by the great Black Forest that covers a third of the country’s land mass. Spain’s jersey features the beautiful coral reefs found around the coastlines; Sweden’s kit represents the vast glacial rivers and ice caps; Colombia’s kit pays homage to the hues of the Caño Cristales River and Argentina’s jersey displays the striking landscapes from Serranía de Hornocal, signifying the diverse natural landscapes of the country.

One wonders what modular MIPtv will offer and who will buck their earlier trend of saying they might not attend.

Recreating scenes from 'The Last of Us'

Photographer visits famous locations from ‘The Last of Us’ to recreate iconic scenes

Mark Cogan, an Irish-Canadian photographer, travels to Pedro Pascal’s favourite Alberta town to recreate some of the iconic scenes from The Last of Us.

Cogan creates these series of creative still by holding up a picture from the show to match them where they were actually filmed.

This beautiful Canadian mountain town got an apocalyptic makeover for the show and was staged to be Jackson, Wyoming, which was prominently featured in the sixth episode, “Kin”.
